Etsy Shared Access: Get Help, Keep Your Password

Every Etsy seller reaches the point where one person cannot keep up with listings, orders and messages. Until recently, getting help often meant sharing your login, and with it your account, your payouts and your risk. Etsy's new shared access feature removes that trade-off.

The problem with sharing a password

Handing over your login to a freelancer, assistant or family member has real downsides:

  • They can see sensitive financial information and personal details.
  • You cannot tell who did what, so mistakes and problems are hard to trace.
  • Removing access means changing your password, which can lock out everyone, including you.
  • Two-factor authentication codes end up on your phone while someone else is trying to sign in.
  • If the person's own device or email is compromised, your whole shop is exposed.

What Etsy shared access is

Announced in Etsy's Seller Handbook on September 22, 2026, shared access lets you invite team members to sign in with their own Etsy account, so they can help manage your shop while you keep control of your account and financial information. You can have up to five team members.

How to set it up

  1. Go to Shop Manager > Settings > Shared access.
  2. Select Invite team member.
  3. Enter their email address and send the invitation.
  4. The invitation expires after seven days, so ask them to accept it promptly.

What a team member can and cannot do

Can doCannot do
Manage orders: add tracking, buy shipping labels, mark orders as shippedCancel or refund orders
Create, edit and publish listingsDelete or deactivate listings
View and reply to buyer messagesSee bank details, earnings or anything in the finances tab
See marketing, stats, settings, apps or performance
Invite or remove other team members

Every team member gets the same level of access, since permissions cannot be customized. Team members must set up two-factor authentication before they can accept an invitation. You can remove access at any time, and you can download an activity log to review what messages, orders and listings were changed.

Rules to know before you invite someone

  • The invited person must be at least 18 years old.
  • Their email address cannot already be linked to another Etsy shop, including a draft shop, and an Etsy account can belong to only one shop at a time.
  • They cannot have recently purchased from your shop if the order is still within its return window.
  • You stay responsible for everything done in your shop, including actions by team members and any policy violations.

What it means for working with me

If you need your Etsy shop managed or evaluated, shared access means I can connect to your shop without needing your login details. Listings, orders and buyer messages can be handled through the invitation, and you keep control of your finances and account. Because team members cannot see stats, marketing or performance pages, a review of ads and traffic would be done from screenshots or exports you share with me, or together on a call.

That keeps the arrangement simple and safe: you invite, I help, and you can remove access whenever you like.
